what I wore to Second Sunday in Charleston

Every second Sunday of the month, Charleston's Historic Downtown hosts 'Second Sundays.' This is a street series where vendors take to the streets to encourage shopping locally, offer water bowls for dogs, provide special discounts, showcase Charleston musicians, and close the major shopping street so that pedestrians need not worry about getting hit by cars.

It was a smokin' hot day in Charleston. And humid. That Southern humidity you hear about when people visit Florida but don't understand fully until you visit for yourself. Somehow, I managed to get by mostly unscathed by the heat albeit some frizzy hair {standard me}.

Skinny Dip Charleston provided Frosé samples outside their storefront. Anthropologie, Madewell, and local boutiques all have special sales for the occasion. Food stalls come to the park at the end of King Street to provide much needed sustinence.

Then, we {Mom and I} stumbled upon Woof Gang Bakery! And I quickly realized how much money I could drop on Poppy were I without a financial conscious. The shop had a puppy pool for dogs to cool off. I was immediately sad I hadn't brought my best four-legged friend. Now that I know the event is dog-friendly, I'll definitely be back {someday} with Poppy in tow. I was wowed by all the pet supplies and special treats available for purchase. Doggles {puppy swimming goggles}, dog life jackets, puppy bow ties, leads, collars, and {of course} heaps of pet-safe pastries!

If you're looking to check out everything Charleston's famous King Street has to offer while mingling with its furry pals in the unforgiving heat, I'd say Second Sunday is the thing to do. There is no admission fee and there are so many freebies, you'll feel like you're back in high school at a college fair.
