I'm Tara.

I'm just a silly little girl who likes to go places and tell her silly little stories.

SLK documents the adventures I've had across 5 continents & who I've become on my journeys.

You can read my full story in the 'About' tab!

This week I'm sharing: a lot of affiliate links, Poppy's Instagram {yeah, I know}, plans for a special reunion, and other 'yays' and 'boos' of everyday life.

(+) I started an Instagram account for my dog a few months ago, {requested by my mother} so that when I'm away she can take over posting and keep me in the loop of Poppy's adventures {Momma T is new to Insta and it's pretty adorable}. Funnily enough, after a few posts, we got offered an affiliate program deal. I've been admittedly shit at posting, but I'm working on it. If you have a 4-legged friend and are in need of a new lead or collar {they also make bow ties}, check out Geopetric and use the code 'POPPY20' for 20% off of your total order! The best part? 10% of the profits go towards shelter dogs {like our St. Bernard, Frank} and all the products are vegan and made in the U.S.

(-) Speaking of Poppy, some people have been asking what I'm going to 'do with her' once I move overseas again. Fair point. It's only honest to say that I got Poppyseed 2 years ago while looking for a companion to make my time saving all my dollars for half a year of around the world adventures more fun. No one wanted her, she was the last of her litter to go. I fell in love with the little Rat Terrier, despite having wanted a German Shepard or other large dog. I kind of melted thanks to her sweet demeanor. It was a decision based on my heart {the only way I ever used to make any decision was based on emotion}. Those choices can often be a bit irresponsible. I knew my lifestyle of moving often and being abroad didn't always suit having a dog. Luckily, my mother and father fell in love with Poppytart too and agreed {graciously} to take care of her while I continued to follow opportunities. She's in great hands. I'm always, always heartbroken to say good-bye. Pops is my girl and so, unlike other good-byes, it's only ever temporary.

(+) I've already binged the newest season of Orange is the New Black thanks to packing for Europe and finalizing the last bits of closet organization, which brings me to...

(-) sort, sell, donate, repeat...this has become my life the last few years. But, in my defense, I've calculated how much money I've made from selling clothing {I seriously have too much, even after multiple purges} and it's in the thousands...

(+) I've also been able to Skype with multiple friends recently, despite all of our lives getting more and more busy. I've been more than happy to catch up with Keegs {and Mike}, Tash and S.

(-/+) I had my first drink in over 4 months in Rapid City. And it felt pretty yuck, especially after my 120-day detox. I next had a glass of Sangria at Harold's Cabin while stalking out Bill Murray. After my experiment fully detoxing from refined sugar and alcohol, I think it's safe to say I feel my best without it. A glass of Rose here and there maybe on special occasions, but otherwise my body feels incredible without it. Along with that, I've started the Goop detox before my summer travels so that I can head into the next chapter of everything supercharged and refreshed. If you follow my Instagram, you probably saw the list and how extensive it is. Wish me luck?

(+) Along with my attempt to refresh and cleanse, mom bought me a Vegetti. Pretty sweet, huh? For $10, I now have this little kitchen tool that allows me to turn the garden fresh squash, zucchini and cucumbers our neigbours have been sending over our way into pasta and salad dishes. I feel like a domestic goddess, but it's actually the easiest thing ever.

(+) I'll be meeting up with a bunch of former Women's Empowerment Project volunteers in London for an evening of shenanigans. If it's anything like Taco Tuesday in Luang Prabang, it's sure to be banging! I can't wait to see Chloe, Annie, and Rachel in one of my favourite cities, reunited with an evening that is sure to serve up laughter. If you're in the area and want to catch up, shoot me a message and let's make it happen!

(-) I've been asked whether I'll be meeting up with Luke or Will in London this time. Tavener is still over in Laos making the world a better place. Will has a full-on work schedule, but we're trying to make it happen! You can read about our last adventure together here and Luke's blog here {though he still hasn't featured me as a 'Person of Interest', wtf is up with that?!}.

(+/-) This month is my last month working with Rocksbox. They've been so generous to me, and the jewelry I've received is well above my price range. Lucky for me {and for you}, Rocksbox makes having designer jewelry affordable. And my code 'sillylittletaraxoxo' will save you even more! you'll get a FREE month of jewelry so that you can try it out for yourself. What you like, you can buy and keep forever. What you only want to wear once, you send back in their reusable packaging.

(+) Also this month, I received the Starter Teeth Whitening Kit from Pop Smile. I have just started using it, but I'm already in love. Travel-sized, vegan, cruelty-free, 99% natural ingredients...what's not to love? I'll be posting more about this in an upcoming blog about how to travel light and all my favourite travel toiletries!

the cutest, right?

(+) And finally, two of my dear friends got married yesterday in a small {and no doubt beautiful} ceremony in Wayfarer's Chapel. I was there in spirit, though I could unfortunately not attend in person. We both met in Thailand. Then, Lindsey visited me in New Zealand and Montana. I visited her in her native Las Vegas at the Life is Beautiful Music Festival, where her and Devin {officially her husband!!} become an official item {while watching Kimbra perform, I might add}. Congrats, Dev + Lindsey! You deserve all the happiness in this world. Please make a baby already so that I can be an Auntie, k?
