I'm Tara.

I'm just a silly little girl who likes to go places and tell her silly little stories.

SLK documents the adventures I've had across 5 continents & who I've become on my journeys.

brunch guide // Wilmington

Wilmington didn't disappoint on any level. The weather was good, the scenery was great, and the brunch scene was awesome. Wilmington was basically what I imagine Missoula, Montana's East Coast love-child to be.

Here are the top 3 brunch spots I recommend based on my short stay in 'Tree Hill.'

1. Bitty + Beau's Coffee Co.

If I could make one single recommendation for anywhere to brunch in Wilmington it would be Bitty + Beau's Coffee Co. This coffee shop hires individuals with mental or developmental disabilities. You will not find another coffee shop that puts you in a better mood.

The employees working on the morning we dropped by were dancing behind the counter and had the most positive attitudes, even early in the morning.  I recommend the cinnamon roll!

2. Wake'N'Bake Donuts

This donut shop offers a vegan selection {which I always love} in addition to freshly baked donuts with a creative twist. I recommend the 'Pebble Rock' donut with a sweet milk glaze, coated in Fruity Pebbles cereal. We went to the Carolina Beach location, but the original store is located in the downtown area.

3. 24 South Coffee House

I stumbled upon this baby on my way to the famous Wilmington Riverwalk. The best part is that it's a dog-friendly spot! Which means you can enjoy a hot cup of coffee and a muffin in the company of your four-legged pal.

*Alternative option: Wrightsville Beach

If all else fails, may I suggest you bring a morning picnic to the ever-gorgeous Wrightsville Beach? It was the first time I've ever felt like the Atlantic could maybe give the Pacific a run for her money.

But...who are we kidding? The Pacific still kicks her ass.
